FAQ

1. What is Prairie? Prairie is a residency, gallery, and workspace focused on supporting the presentation and creation of work by both emerging and established artists. We are a community-driven space that fosters creativity and collaboration.

2. Where is Prairie located? Prairie is located at 106 College Street in Buffalo, New York, next to Rivalry Projects.

3. When is Prairie open? We are open by appointment only. Gallery visits can be scheduled Wednesday to Friday, from 11 AM to 5 PM. To book an appointment, please visit the-prairie.square.site/.

Our space is also available for daily residencies (1 person), work sessions (2+ persons), and group meetings (such as artist talks, critiques, workshops, and classes) from Saturday to Tuesday, 8 AM to 8 PM.

4. Can I curate a show at Prairie? Currently, we do not accept proposals from guest curators.

5. What are the residency details? Residencies at Prairie are private, self-guided, and for one artist at a time.

6. Who are the residencies for? Residencies are open to all creatives. However, they are currently most suitable for local artists, as housing is not provided at this time.

7. How can I apply for a residency? We periodically release open calls for applications.

8. What is included in a residency? Residencies include access to a 600 sq. ft. storefront studio, with tables, chairs, stools, and an easel. Cleaning and utilities are also provided.

9. What is not included in a residency? Housing, travel, food, and childcare are not included. Materials and photography services are also not provided. Please note that our facilities do not include a darkroom, woodshop, printmaking equipment, or kiln.

10. Is the residency free or is there a fee? We offer free residencies through open calls for applications.

11. Can I book Prairie as an event space? Yes, events can be hosted at Prairie by prior approval. To inquire, please contact us at hello@the-prairie.com.

12. Can I book one-hour events, work sessions and/or meetings? There is a two-hour minimum for all bookings.

13. Do you offer internships? We offer unpaid internships, which are announced through open calls. At this time, paid internships are not available.
